A Weekend in Trier

Over the last years I often came back from trips to other towns without photos and I wondered why.
I recognized that, earlier, I came back from trips with a lot of photos which gave me nothing. Each photo showing a cliché, something one would expect the usual tourist to take a picture of.

I’m actually not interested in cliché subjects. 🙂

Lately we were in Trier over a weekend and I decided almost unconsciously to photograph whatever I felt I would like to photograph and not to think about what one would photograph as a tourist.

Here is the outcome.

Inside the hotel room

If you book a hotel that is not exactly expensive, you get a special atmosphere!

Guess, who the very handsome man in the mirror could be! 😉 😀

The building on the left is a bunker, built during the II. world war, but never finished. The building on the right is part of the town hall.

HolocaustDenkmalInTrier

This is a memorial, commemorating the Sinti and Roma, who were deported during the holocaust. It’s a work of the artist Clas Steinmann, Trier, 2012.

The Barbara Baths

The Barbara Baths did not impress us very much, because you can’t get near the ruins, but you have to walk on a metall bridge over the terrain. There are signs which explain what you see, but we were never quite sure, which ruin they meant to describe.

So I just made these pictures: 🙂

I found some very interesting graffiti in Trier!

Inside the cathedral

I guess the pictures I made inside the cathedral are not so much the common tourist’s photos either… 🙂

Engel2ImTriererDom

I really don’t mean to offend anybody, but I think, these two angels are the ugliest I’ve ever seen! 🙂

I saw this on a column in the cloister. Three little signs make a face for me! 🙂

I hope, you like these pictures!

Oh, I almost forgot: When you’re in Trier, you have to make pictures from the cathedral, the basilica, the Porta Nigra and the baths, of course, because these never have been photographed before! 😉 😀
